What is Dysphasia?
I had great difficulty in talking at first. Even with much effort over the years, this is an area in which I’ve always had some difficulty (telling stories- very short, even jokes when the words just don’t come out quite right) …and perhaps why I communicate best through writing (where I don’t have to follow instructions)!

Difficulty understanding or expressing language as a result of damage to the brain. There are different levels of impairment and
the term dysphasia refers to partial loss of language whereas aphasia refers to complete loss of language. However, in practise, the terms are interchangeable.
- Expressive Aphasia – this is when someone has difficulty talking and expressing ideas. (That’s me for sure!) They may also find writing difficult. (Thank goodness, that doesn’t apply, otherwise I’d really be even deeper, much, in “the smelly brown stuff!”!)
